WALT: Entertain ( Recount)

The room was drowsy like everyone was tongue tied. The music started then glitched out. I was last to compete. I can hear my friends voices cheering me on. I can't turn to look, I have to concentrate. The music restarted and I was NOT confident! " Go Georgia." I can hear. A little smirk appears on my face just as the music starts.

Reading & Radio Station


In Nics reading group we split up into different categories and I am in the arts category. I enjoy being in this because I love to do anything to do with art. Once we got together it's our groups we then planed what we were going to do next. In the end I ended up doing a Colouring in competition with Aroha & Maia. So far we have made this video tog on the Radio station.

Shrinkage

Pippa Is in a award position were her so called friends & telling her If she wants to be friends with them then she has to snatch something.  " What should I grab?" Pippa sadly thinks. Pippa is a nice girl but she is desperately in need of friends. Lip gloss is small, Even though she doesn't like lip gloss especially cherry flavour.  It's a good size to slip into her hand. If the other girls can do it Pippa can do it. She gazes to see if anyone is watching. She walks out really scared but " Don't look scared!" She thinks to her self. The girls are not there. Pippa has been used. She is not the best at choosing friends. The shop keeper has caught her. She ashamedly walks back inside. " I think she stole the lipgloss?" The grumpy women said

 I was learning this strategy during Maths be  I forgot to go back & do it in the test. So I just proved this. I am now on subtract using tidy numbers.

Sugar Writing

WALT: Inform 

Sugar

Do you have sugar in your coffee every morning? How many teaspoons do you have? To many? Well that's not good. It's even worse when your kids are having to much sugar. Sugar is bad, & when I say bad I meen really bad. And when I say really bad I meen really really bad! 

Do you know how bad sugar is? Sugar is what puts holes in your teeth, Which is later to be treated by being pulled out. How would  you feel if you were a 2 or 3 year old that had false teeth because your parents fed you too much junk food. 

You do not know how much sugar is in food & drinks until you see it being made. Trust me you do not want to see it either! Here's an example, Baked Beans. Do you eat baked beans? Good, who doesn't. Would you think baked beans has sugar in it? No, didn't thinks so. Well guess what. It has heaps of sugar in it! A typical serving has about 15g of sugar. That's terrible isn't it. Are you scared of eating baked beans now? 

Well don't worry sugar is in almost everything. Tomato sauce has heaps of sugar as well and everyone loves tomato sauce for like hot chips and stuff. Has this writing got you thinking about what you have been eating? Well to find out what is in your food just look at the back and it will say ingredients. Then find what you want to know in that column. Did you know that sugar is killing thousands of people a day & by the looks of how much sugar is in all our food you might be one if those people too when your older.

 But don't worry, If you only eat about 1 un healthy food a day that's small you will be fine but just make sure you stay healthy and don't eat much sugar! Make sure you don't feed your kids much sugar either because if they have too much they will need to get their teeth pulled out and kids can't handle having teeth pulled out unless their really tough. Remember, Make sure you don't have too much sugar.

Task to write recount of based on a Noughty experience.

 We sneek into the creative room like robbers. Nah,Honestly we just casually walked in. Anyway, " Hurry Up." I squeak. I opened the door to see Ella snatch the scissors. I checked to see if anyone was coming. " Huh." I breath. " What, Who's there?" Ella Says. "No, No ones there. I'm just kidding." She gave me a pair of scissors, That's were it all started...

" I'll cut your hair first." I say. Noise insists me to make a loud noise, it's flowing throughout my body like blood.

I grabbed a bit of her hair. Snip, Trim, Plop. Her hair's as bumpy as a messed up zig-zag. That's no hairdressing job for me. " Uh, Thanks." She mumbled while feeling how bumpy her hair is. She is NOT happy! I can see it in her face.

"Now it's your turn to cut." I struggle to say. Time passed, Very quick. This isn't normal to be doing this? I'm thinking. My hair feels short, Short like I'm bold. I'm, NOT happy.On the bright side, My hairs is straighter than hers. But it's over now and it's too late. Don't people say " It's never to late?" Yeah well don't believe them it's a lie.

Right, Where was I? Oh yes... It was done, We were out of the room. Finally. It's home time now and so far so good! No one has spotted or noticed anything.Well that was until we got home of course. Mums looks at me straight in the eye. " Who cut your hair?" She says while examining my hair. " Ella." I quickly talk back. Just as I say that Kim ( Ella's Mum) calls. They're coming around. Uh Oh. 10 minutes later... The doors creek like its a door to the end of the world.

What's Kim going to say to me? " You wicked, Worthless, Evil girl?" All she says is... " Right girls, let's go." All I can hear is the doors slamming & the seat belts clicking. Make it click.
Were are we going? I wonder. The hairdresser great. " Mum I don't want to!" "
Well you HAVE too."
As If. I think defiantly not say. I can't even imagine how bad the consequence would be? I wish I never cut my hair!

Well, It was Ella's idea. Maybe, No. Fine it was my idea. But that's the last I ever let anyone cut my hair again!

Evaluation:
Reflect on a time when you have been in the pit. For the learning pit when I was making this I had a lot of other stuff on like Ki Or Rahi and Dance Nz Made so I was in the pit because I had not long to finish it.
How did you feel when you were in the pit?  Annoyed, Rushed, Challenged.
What did you do to work out of the pit? Got help from a friend- Kobe.

Feedback/Feedforward: good job Georgia. I like all the detail you added. Maybe next time you could dial down on all the colors. Otherwise it is AWESOME.

The Final Chance

Purpose: To share our experiences about a time we felt nervous, exhausted or angry.

WALT: Entertain (recount)

Task: To write a recount based on an experience.


The room was drowsy like everyone was tongue tied. The music started then glitched out. I was last to compete. I can hear my friends voices cheering me on. I can't turn to look, I have to concentrate. The music restarted and I was NOT confident! " Go Georgia." I can hear. A little smirk appears on my face just as the music starts.

I finish my flick flacks and I am facing mum. She is recording. She stops recording and all I hear is the music and the light whispers fading away. I feel sweaty but I'm not sweaty I'm just nervous. Smile, I say to myself. I'm finally lost in the music. I feel upbeat. I feel brave. I feel hot, I'm frying like a pan! Is it me or is it boiling in here? No of course it isn't me. Oh and I know I'm doing dreadful! Right now, I'm doing my last dance before the music ends.

I  present to the judges with a BIG smile on my face. As soon as I turn that all changed. Tears come bursting out like a firework. Could I feel any worse after my terrible floor. My score comes out and I gaze up like a shining star. My mouth opens & I see mum calculate my score but I see no signs of fail or pass. She lip sinks 50! Yay I'm going to step 5!

Hiwi The Kiwi


Hey You, Yes You! Listen Up. Did you know nearly 88% of New Zealanders eat fish almost every month? Well, Yes it is healthy so it's a good thing. But ( Yes It's wow there's a bad *But to this story)  What if I told you fish could be extinct by the time your grandchildren are born. WOW! It's because people have been braking  the law/ Fishing Rules & it is unfair isn't it. So if you want to know the rules than keep reading to find out...

Fish N Chips are a New Zealand food, right?  Imagine if it was just Chips, No fish just boring old yum chips. What would we New Zealanders be known for? The country with no fish. Terrible wouldn't it!

So here are the most important rules for fishers. Remember always put the to big and the to small fish back! You ask why? Well I will tell you why. The small fish need to grow because they will never be able to live there life or have babies for us to eat when they grow.  Not Good. Are you wondering about the big fish? I could sing you a song about why but, I'm not in the mood. Anyway you put the biggies back because they, could, have, babies & you wouldn't want to break  both fishing laws would you? Also you would be a piggies eating that much would. Aye?

Also, when your fishing you need a wet towel & when I say need I mean NEED! Imagine if you picked up a fish & it was under size. You would make its protection scales fall off. So that's why you NEED a wet towel. Oh I almost forgot, Make sure you have salt water to keep it fresh. Never use normal water on a salt water fish!

Now that you know couple of fishing rules. If you ever see someone doing the wrong thing, tell them off! Oh and don't worry I will be there too with my new fishing rod as soon as I win it. I can help you tell everyone the fishing rules.

Maori Language


WALT: communicate a message.

Description: We have been participating in 3 different workshops around colour, compositions and fonts.  We put these skills to use in a poster sharing our knowledge about Te Reo Maori.

Why? We have noticed that our posters are too cluttered and do not communicate a  message well.
When? Week 3
Who? The World

Task: Make a poster about Te Reo Maori.

Message: My message is clear and purposeful. Everything that is on my poster relates to my message. 

Self Assesment: I think I could have presented it better and described what everything meens better but my poster shows how to have a quick conversation in Maori.

Buddy Comment: I think that you have been to all the work shops because it looks very nice. Next time you could put some pictures to show. Like if you have Tepu for table you could put a picture of a table. Georgia T.

Message: My message is clear and purposeful.  Everything that is on my poster relates to my message.  👍

 Composition: My poster is balanced. 👍

Font: My font is clear, readable and suits the message.👍

Colour: I have used 2-3 colours that are complementary. My background choice makes the text pop!👍

Accuracy: All of the words on my poster are spelt correctly. 👌


 Evaluation:

  1. What are you most proud of and why? I am proud that I got the deadline because I had less time to finish it than others.

  2. What challenged you the most and why? It was challange spelling the words right because they are in Maori.

  3. Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Finishing in time because I had to finish it during brunch time.


 Over all I think my poster is a yellow target because it was an alright poster & I know I can do better!

Integrity

WALT: Show Integrity

Task: We are making a short movie that shows what Integrity looks like with our little buddy.
Description: Troy and Chris shared with us some movies that demonstrate people showing Integrity when it looked like they were not going to show it. Our goal was to create our own movie that showed integrity at school.

Self Assessment: I think our video shows integrity alright but next time we could try & add some diffferent angles.

Heat & Temperature

Do you think heat & temperature are the same thing? Well, Keep reading to find out...

Heat is a type of energy that goes crazy & warms up the atoms. For example,You see those atoms as sweat. When your face goes bright red, you know your hot. When you cold, If you jump up & down it wakes the atoms up & that's how you warm up.

Temperature is also an energy that heats up the atoms. But temperature cools down the atoms too. When someone says 'I've got a temperature.' They normally meen they are hot because we don't use our English properly. When you go to the beach & the water is freezing when you swim. you get cold because   body is trying to reach the same temperature.


Heat &  temperature are not the same thing. Well,People say they are but they not because you just read what heat is & you just read what  temperature. There is a difference. Remember heat it something hot &  temperature is something hot or cold.Energy transfers through our body & warms up or cools down the atoms. Also, When your sick the germs heat the atoms which go crazy & make you get a hot temperature.
Heat & Temperature are not the same thing because heat is hot and temperature is hot or cold. 

This informing writing proves that heat & temperature are not the same thing.

Maths Sample

Description:  Our focus is to use different multiplication strategies to figure out three digit multiplication questions faster.  

Process:  At the moment we are focusing on the place value strategy.  To start with, our maths group worked together to learn the strategy.  Then we had a go by ourselves trying to use the strategy for each problem.  We shared our answers back with the group to discuss what the answers were.  

Learning: I learnt how to use place value even though I already knew but I had forgotten. Place Value is really easy once you get the hang of it.

WALT: Use place value to solve multiplation 

Self Assesment: I did well at explaining & I now know how to use this for other Maths problems.

Buddy Assesment:I think Georgia did an awesome job of explaining how to do the strategy. For further steps I think you can work on planning your work before just going out there and starting. Aroha :P
